You can now stream/download for free the 2011 mix of ‘Cut Ribbon’ from Steven Wilson’s SoundCloud. The song previously only available for iOS users via the SW Fan App, and now that it’s finally been released, everyone now has the chance to hear it. Here’s what Steven Wilson posted on Facebook, in regards to the song’s official release:
Cut Ribbon is now available on my Soundcloud page. This song was written for a planned metal style collaboration with Mikael Åkerfeldt in 2001, but this is a more recent version, made during the Grace For Drowning album sessions. Over the last 10 years it’s been the orphan song, destined to never fit in with anything else I was doing. Previously only available on the SW iPhone app, now here it is for you to download / listen to in full resolution (well CD resolution anyway, 44.1K 16 bit). Enjoy! – Steven Wilson
Steven has posted a live version of ‘Deform To Form a Star’ over on his SoundCloud account, taken from the band’s performance in London on October 31st. You can listen to it by using the player below. The songs also featured are ‘Index’, ‘Sectarian’ and ‘No Part of Me’ which were previously released on YouTube and on the SW iOS app. These tracks being available to stream online strongly suggests that we will see some sort of physical CD release, possibly a double CD release of the concert, maybe a vinyl version. One can hope!
Kscope Music have just posted Steven Wilson’s interview on WNYC’S Soundcheck interview from last month. It also includes a piano rendition of ‘Postcard’ a song from ‘Grace for Drowning’. We covered this at around the time of broadcast on StarsDie.com, and many of you have probably already heard this version of ‘Postcard’ as it has been floating around the Internet for quite some time now. As for the interview itself, many people who didn’t tune in live haven’t heard it. Now’s your chance! Listen using the SoundCloud player below. ‘Like Dust I Have Cleared From My Eye’ a song also featured as part of this interview, will be a full length 8 minute track on the album, whereas here it’s a shorter 4 minute radio edit version.
Porcupine Tree live guitarist John Wesley released his seventh studio album ‘The Lilypad Suite’ back in March over on his band camp website, but now MadFish Music are releasing a new limited edition of that album, which contains two extra songs not available on the original release. MadFish Music have updated the John Wesley section on their website, promoting the upcoming release. You can hear samples from the album, download PC wallpapers, plus you can also download a new song ‘Lost Firelight’, taken from the album’s limited edition for free if you sign up to Kscope’s mailing list here!
‘The Lilypad Suite’ Tracklist:
- An Elegant Mess
- Walls of America
- A Glittery of Nothing
- Still Waiting
- Lost Firelight
- A Perfect Party
I’ve included an album sampler below, as well as a video of John playing ‘A Glittery Nothing’, taken from ‘The Lilypad Suite’ as part of the RedRoom Sessions.
If you decide to buy the deluxe edition of ‘Grace for Drowning’, you will receive a bonus CD, along with the standard 2CD album, blu-ray and hard back book.
SW’s official website has just been updated with the tracklist for this bonus disc.
It seems that ‘Home in Negative’ will be featured on this bonus CD, which you can already listen to online, thanks to Steven Wilson’s SoundCloud page.
