Gavin is truly one of the all-time greats. He’s got a unique ability to lay down a groove and move a song along, whlile still playing astoundingly complex pieces in odd time signatures… and it always sounds relaxed and natural. Also, he’s got, I think, the best sense of dynamics on the drums since Steve Gadd. Utterly brilliant.

#5 written by edisonschild 2 months agoI’ve been a drummer for bout 30 years or so – my inspirations list is a long one – in the past year or three I have become a huge fan of porcupine tree and Gavin is by far my current man that I look to for inspiration and drum licks – and will be for quite some time – I would highly recommend his instructional videos like Rhythmic Illusions, etc. for any drummer, seasoned or beginner to take your drumming to another level and listen to Gavin as he gives fresh perspectives on rhythm as only he can do – thanks Gavin and PT for continuing to carry the torch for REAL listening music that we can once again enjoy… CHEERS
